Behind the Scenes

Our volunteers ‘behind the scenes’ make a huge contribution to the time our clinical staff can spend with patients, by helping with basic administration and practical tasks. Some examples include:

Administration

An administration volunteer could be involved in a range of tasks; it might be compiling patient information packs, helping with filing, keeping admin systems up to date or answering the phone. Just two hours a week can make a big difference to the clinical staff team that you join to support.

Stock room support

Our stockroom support volunteers make a big difference, making sure that the stores are kept in order, making sure ordering of community nursing or occupational therapy equipment is quick and easy for the clinical staff, so they can spend more time with patients. Our volunteers also help ensure that the stock is always up to date, and equipment is always ordered only when it is needed.

Reader’s Forum

The Reader’s Forum has been established to improve the patient information available in the trust. Volunteers will review all new leaflets and similar patient information material before publication, to help us ensure our literature is easy to read, and includes the right information in an accessible way.
