Cardiac rehabilitation

Overview

Cardiac Rehabilitation encourages people affected by cardiac disease to achieve and maintain good physical and psychological health. The North Norfolk service offers an 8 week intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation programme delivered  by a multidisciplinary team (occupational therapy, physiotherapy and nurse). The programme provides:

  • Basic education and support
  • Assistance in management of lifestyle changes
  • Build confidence and motivation
  • Understanding of the need for exercise and awareness of own exercise levels
  • Assessment
  • Shuttle walk test

Phone is manned office hours. Groups run Wednesday 9.30am - 11.30am
12.30pm assessment/discharge

Parking and Transport: Limited onsite parking is available. Accessible by public and community transport.

Access and Facilities: Main entrance well signposted and wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible toilet.

Referral Information: Over 18. Patients are referred to this service after Myocardial Infarction (a heart attack), Revascularisation or Cardiac Surgery. Referral is via GP, cardiac consultant or other health professional.

What to expect when referred: An initial assessment, to include a full history of current condition, pysical ability and lifestyle. A programme of exercise and education, followed by a discharge session.
